What This Move Is

From a single hammerlock, the lead either folds the second arm behind the follow so both are locked, or steps under the raised arm and travels behind her to a back-to-back position before re-folding the opposite side. A more advanced, sustained position-change requiring care.

Key Points

  • Lead: Fold or travel gently — never over-tighten the second arm; respect shoulder range of motion.
  • Follow: Allow both arms to fold in succession with a soft fingertip connection; pivot in place rather than stepping back.
  • Timing: On1 5-6-7 (plus a second 8-count for the travel version); On2 on 2/6.
  • Common mistake: Forcing or over-tightening the second arm (shoulder strain); follow stepping back instead of pivoting in place.

Style Notes

A "trap" position best held briefly. Have the unwind queued before you enter it. Some teachers call the travelling version a "pretzel."
