Coach's notes — the how & why

What This Move Is

A side body wave danced inside shadow position, both partners facing the same direction so the wave can be mirrored and synchronized. Led through the shoulder/back frame, never the head.

Key Points

  • Lead: From behind in shadow, lead the side wave through the shoulder and back frame so the follow mirrors it; never lead through the head.
  • Follow: Wave side-to-side over your own base, matching the lead's timing and direction.
  • Timing: One wave over 2-4 counts, held or repeated across the phrase.
  • Common mistake: Losing isolation so the wave becomes a sway, or the lead crowding the follow's space.

Style Notes

A satisfying synchronized moment that shows off the shadow position. Keep both partners over their own base.
