Abanico (Fan)

Also known as: Fan, abanico

A Cuban casino figure that 'fans' the follower out and back around the leader in a sweeping arc, keeping the circular, grounded casino flow turning between enchufla-family moves.

Coach's notes — the how & why

What This Move Is

A casino figure in which the leader opens the follower out along a curving arc — the fan — and gathers her back in, all within the circular Cuban frame. It is connective tissue that keeps a casino run flowing.

Lead & Follow It

Led with the circular body lead of casino, the connection travelling around rather than along a line. The follower keeps the Cuban hip motion alive through the fan and stays grounded over her own feet.

How It Connects

It flows in and out of the enchufla family and links naturally toward Dame, Setenta and the rest of the Cuban core.
