What This Move Is
Once in the hammerlock, the lead adds a body wave through the remaining frame and connected hand, turning a structural position into a sensual moment. The hammerlock is the base position; the wave is the layer that makes it 'sensual'.
Key Points
- Lead: From the comfortable folded-arm position, lead a body wave through the free hand and frame — never through the locked arm or neck.
- Follow: Keep the folded arm relaxed at a comfortable height and layer a body wave on top.
- Timing: Enter the lock over 1-4, wave over 5-8.
- Common mistake: Forcing the locked arm too high, or trying to lead the wave from the wrong hand.
Style Notes
A clear illustration of the layering axis: the same hammerlock can be danced 'Modern' (plain) or 'Sensual' (with a wave layered on).
